The 5-hectare estate of Bartolo Mascarello has an illustrious history in Piedmont and is one of the most revered producers in the region. They produce just one classically-styled Barolo which is an assemblage of their four estate vineyards in Cannubi, Rué, San Lorenzo and Rocche dell’Annunziata. Now under the direction of Maria-Theresa Mascarello, winemaking still remains incredibly traditional, with lengthy maceration, slow fermentation and extended maturation in large oak ‘botti’. This is a classic interpretation of Nebbiolo with an absolutely pristine flavour profile. The 2010 vintage was considered very good with wines capable of long ageing. This will be entering its prime now but still with a long life ahead.
