A Partnership

Hedonists seeking the finest of flavour need search no further – 'The Pursuit of Pleasure' ends here, within this 52-Year-Old Blended Scotch Whisky.

A new collaboration between House of Hazelwood and purveyors of fine spirits, Hedonism Wines, introduces an expression of pure indulgence. Bottled within lies a tale of a journey from Mayfair to Speyside, the culmination of hundreds of parcels of ancient whisky sampled in the search for decadence, decanted.

The Origin

In early 2024, the Hedonism Wines team travelled the Hazelwood House in Speyside to embark on a very special collaboration. Drawing on the incredible cask reserves of the Gordon family, the team worked with master blender Eilidh Muir to create a unique assemblage of distillates, tasting dozens of barrel samples - it was the start of a journey that would culminate in the bottling of 'The Pursuit of Pleasure'.

The Destination

Following the initial visit to Speyside, the tasting panel reconvened in Mayfair to taste through a number of potential blends presented by Eilidh, each different, but each representing representing a facet of complexity, decadence and individuality. The decision was made, and 'The Pursuit of Pleasure' was blended and bottled.

Presenting The Pursuit of Pleasure, a collaborative endeavour in the alchemy of blending between House of Hazelwood and Hedonism Wines, a 52-Year-Old Whisky, matured in a combination of American White Oak and European Sherry Casks. Limited to just 72 bottles.

The nose is dense, the sticky jam sweetness almost palpable. Saddlery workshops cut through the sweetness, with hints of furniture polish and leather apparent, before a zingy zest of burnt orange takes the floor.

The palate is lively, with more sweetness echoed in an effervescent barley sugar character. Light oak and vanilla make wonderful bedfellows, setting the scene for a long, lingering finish of gently smoking charcoal embers upon a barbecue.
