Scottish Whisky

Scotch whisky is defined by five official categories. Single malt scotch is often considered its pinnacle, crafted from malted barley at a single distillery using traditional copper pot stills. This malt whisky showcases profound depth and individuality. Single Grain Scotch Whisky, also from a single distillery, can include other grains and is typically produced in continuous stills, offering surprising complexity when aged in oak casks.

The vast majority, around 90%, is blended scotch whisky, a masterful art form. This includes Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (a blend of single malt scotch from multiple distilleries) and Blended Grain Scotch Whisky (a blend of grain whisky from multiple distilleries). Most commonly, Blended Scotch Whisky combines one or more single malt scotch whiskies with one or more grain whisky expressions. Many famous whisky brands excel in this category, offering remarkably age-worthy and complex bottles.
