Irish Whiskey
Though often seen as second to Scotch Whisky in the British Isles today, Ireland proudly held the title of the world's leading whiskey-producing country in the 19th century. Indeed, the Irish are frequently credited with introducing distillation to Britain, a fact often overshadowed by the later dominance of Scottish whisky. Once seemingly on the brink of extinction, with only one company and two distilleries remaining, the past thirty or so years have seen a phenomenal resurgence in investment and popularity for Irish whiskey, with a wave of new producers and modern Irish distillers joining the ranks of established whiskey production.
