This first fill bourbon barrel was filled on 17th February 2025 at a natural cask strength of 63.30% ABV. The fresh American oak is expected to accentuate the distillery’s bright, orchard-fruited style with layers of vanilla, honey, and gentle spice, while allowing the spirit’s natural vibrancy to shine through. With around 200 litres of new make spirit laid down, the cask promises to develop richness and complexity as it matures.

This second fill wine barrique was filled with around 220-litres of new make spirit on 19th May 2025 at a natural cask strength of 68.00% ABV. The barrique promises to temper the power of the high-strength new make, layering gentle red fruit tones, soft spice, and a touch of tannic grip over the intensely smoky distillate. The second fill cask ensures that the influence of the wine remains elegant and balanced, allowing the peat-driven spirit to stay at the forefront while gaining complexity over time.

This first fill bourbon barrel of Peallach will be filled in August 2025 at a cask strength of 63.5% ABV. The fresh bourbon wood promises to enhance the spirit’s peated profile, layering in notes of vanilla, coconut, and gentle spice while allowing the coastal smokiness and earthy depth of Ledaig to shine. With a capacity of around 200 litres, this cask is set to mature into a richly smoky, sweetly rounded dram with excellent ageing potential.

On the nose, classic Laphroaig notes of iodine, medicinal peat and brine immediately appear. The peat is muted at first on the palate but soon builds, delivering a dram that packs a real punch. Savoury tones are balanced by subtle sweetness before giving way to a drying, peppery finish—an elegant expression of long-aged Islay character.

This barrique of Tormore was filled on 23rd May 2025 into a freshly seasoned 225-litre Merlot barrique at a natural strength of 63.60% ABV. The influence of the French oak barrique is set to complement Tormore’s orchard-fruited profile with layers of red berry richness, gentle spice, and a subtle tannic structure, adding depth and complexity as the spirit matures. With roughly 220 litres of new make spirit laid down, the interplay between distillate and wine cask promises a whisky of freshness, vibrancy, and poise.

This second fill bourbon barrel was filled on 20th February 2020 at a natural strength of 63.76% ABV. At its most recent regauge on 11th February 2025, the cask contained 191 litres of maturing spirit, with a regauged litres of alcohol (RLA) of 122.16. The use of a second fill bourbon barrel allows the distillate to shine with clarity, highlighting Glen Garioch’s malt-forward style while developing layers of vanilla, gentle spice, and a rounded sweetness over time.
