VS (Very Special) must be aged for a minimum of two years, VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale) must spend at least four years in oak barrels, and finally XO (Extra Old) must be a minimum of ten years in cask, though many esteemed producers vastly exceed these minimum requirements for even greater depth.
