Online Tasting - Discover KEIGETSU Sake

£80 per tasting kit Sunday, 4 October 2020 12.00 - 13.30

The first tasting of the day focuses on Tosa Brewery's superb KEIGETSU label, which brings together a host of premium sake in a broad range of traditional styles. Founded in 1877 in Kochi prefecture, Tosa produce over 15 different Sake styles including sparkling, cloudy "Nigori" sake and the traditional Yamahai and Kimoto method sakes.

Tosa president Muneki Matsumoto will present this tasting, live from Japan. Muneki will discuss the history of Tosa and the KEIGETSU range as well as introducing each sake as they are tasted. Along with receiving three bottles of sake, guests will also receive a complimentary gift courtesy of the Tosa brewery - a traditional Japanese dyed hand towel known as a tenugui.

All sakes will be provided in half bottle format.

Online Tasting - Dassai Brewery Tour

Event number two on World Sake Day 2020 is a live sake brewery tour and tasting with one of the world's most famous sake - Dassai.

Produced by the Asahi brewery in rural Yamaguchi prefecture, which has a history stretching back some 200 years, the Dassai brand was introduced around 30 years ago with a focus on producing only the finest premium sake. These days, Dassai is now stocked by many top bars and restaurants and regularly picks up awards the world over.

Guests will enjoy a guided tour of Dassai's brewery with none other than Asahi company president Kazuhiro Sakurai. Kazuhiro will look at how Dassai produce their world class sake and also discuss in detail the two bottlings to be tasted during the event.

Online Tasting - The Speciality Sake of Tsuji Honten and Konishi Breweries

For our third event of the day, House of Sake's Honami Matsumoto and sake educator Oliver Hilton-Johnson will look at the wonderful world of speciality sake. Guests will be treated to three different brews which use traditional recipes and production techniques to stunning effect. Honami and Oliver will discuss the recipes, traditions and history of each sake, giving guests a fascinating insight into the long and varied history of rice wine production in Japan.

Sakes to be tasted include two produced using the ancient 'bodaimoto' technique and a premium brew produced to a 320 year old recipe.
