Situated within the Pomerol appellation, Clos du Clocher is a boutique producer, proudly owned by the Audy family. Established back in 1924 by Jean-Baptiste Audy, this charming estate has remained within the Audy family for generations. Encompassing around 4.6 hectares of vineyards, the estate is predominantly planted with 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. The 2021 vintage of Clos du Clocher is still in its youthful stage, and it promises to flourish with further ageing in your cellar. Presented here in an impressive magnum bottle.
The 2021 Clos du Clocher retains what is quite an opulent bouquet, violet petals infusing the upfront black cherry and blueberry fruit. There is fine delineation and focus to the aromatics. The palate is medium-bodied, with a vein of graphite on the entry and moderate depth, showing good cohesion. An almost Left Bank finish feels just a bit drier than expected, but at least there is freshness here. It will cohere with another two or three years in bottle. - Neil Martin
