Clos du Clocher is a small estate in Pomerol that, since the sublime 2009 and 2010 vintages, has been consistently producing excellent wines and continues to fly somewhat under the radar. The 2019 showcases beautifully defined black fruit with truffle and cedar character, spice and liquorice notes. A wine with an exciting long future ahead. Sold in approachable half bottle format.
The 2019 Clos du Clocher presents a nose of beautifully defined black cherry and boysenberry fruit, truffle and hints of cedar, all very focused and full of vigor. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. Some oak has yet to be subsumed on the entry, but there is great structure here, leading to a complex, tensile finish. This is an outstanding Pomerol.
