The 2016 Marquis de Laguiche Montrachet is a powerhouse, displaying extraordinary tension and density. While the colour has deepened to a richer yellow, the nose reveals intricate layers of lemon verbena, lemon cream, and acacia blossoms. Subtle barrel spice adds a judicious touch. The mid-palate is remarkably broad and zesty, delivering an explosion of flavours. Intense chalky dry extract and powdery minerals contribute to a palate that, at times, overwhelms the senses. Despite its age, there is a noticeable undercurrent of nervous energy and tension, making this a truly dynamic and complex expression.
