Aldo Conterno Barolo Granbussia Riserva 2001 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard Nebbiolo red wine from the Barolo appellation of Piedmont, northern Italy. In 1969, Aldo Conterno broke away from the family business to establish his own winery in Bussia, Monforte d’Alba. Aldo’s three sons Stefano, Franco and Giacomo now run the winery and continue to produce some of the region’s finest wines from their 25-hectares of prime vineyards. Granbussia is seen as the ultimate expression of the estate as it is produced by blending grapes from the oldest and most expressive parcels from the Romirasco, Cicala and Colonnello vineyards. Only produced in exceptional vintages, it remains in the cellar for at least nine years before release. "The 2001 Barolo Riserva Granbussia is gorgeous today. The bouquet is starting to show its age, with early signs of tertiary evolution that take shape in the glass. There is more than enough fruit to suggest the 2001 will drink well for another decade or so. Nothing in particular stands out, just the wine’s textural beauty and incomparable finesse. Rose petals, autumn leaves and sweet spices waft from the glass as the wine continues to freshen up over time. This is a terrific showing from one of the icons of Piedmont. Anticipated maturity. 2012-2021." Wine Advocate, 2012
