Alexander Valley
Located in the northeast corner of California’s Sonoma County, the Alexander AVA experiences a warm climate with evening cooling influences from Pacific air via the Petaluma Gap and Russian River Valley. The influence of altitude and aspect on vineyard sites in this AVA leads to long sunlight hours in addition to cooling influences, resulting in deeply coloured, high tannin wines balanced by fresh acidity. The key variety here is Cabernet Sauvignon – look to the redcurrant, ripe plum and cassis profile of a Silver Oak Cabernet or the deep black cherry, plum and chocolate character of the Alexander Valley Vineyards ‘Cyrus’.
