Marcassin Gauer Vineyard Upper Barn Chardonnay 1993 is a mature-vintage single-vineyard Chardonnay produced by the Marcassin winery in Sonoma, California. Founded in 1991, Marcassin (French for ‘young wild boar’) is a tiny winery located on the Sonoma Coast that focuses solely on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Having either worked or consulted for some of the region’s finest wineries (e.g. Peter Michael, Colgin and Bryant), the supremely talented owner and winemaker, Helen Turley, is considered to be one of the most influential figures in Californian wine. "An ultrarich and toasty California white with intense and complex pear, pineapple, spice, honey and hazelnut flavours. Develops delicate nuances on the finish. Uncommon complexity and depth for this vintage." Wine Spectator, 1995
