Château d`Yquem 2015 is a noble sweet wine produced in the Sauternes appellation of Bordeaux. Located in the heart of the Sauternes appellation on Bordeaux`s Left Bank, Yquem is the most prestigious producer of sweet wines in the world, and the only Sauternes producer to be granted the status of `Premier Cru Supérieur`. The estate vineyard is planted mostly Sémillon, with a smaller proportion of Sauvignon Blanc, as reflected in the wine`s blend. Harvest can involve up to 200 workers, who may pass through the vineyard up to 10 times to pick only those berries that have been infected with `noble rot`, the fungus which shrivels and dehydrates the grape berries, concentrating their sugars. "The 2015 d`Yquem is without question one of the wines of the vintage. Just as alluring from bottle as it was from barrel, the 2015 is a wine that engages all of the senses, from the intellectual to the more hedonistic. Lilting notes of pineapple, mint, orange peel and white flowers grace the palate, but it is the wine`s sense of balance and total harmony that impress most. In 2015, Yquem had its earliest start to the harvest since 1893. Even so, the winemaking team did a magnificent job of preserving freshness. The 2015 was fermented in 100% new oak, and residual sugar is 145 grams per litre, but great wine is never about numbers. Above all else, the 2015 Yquem is a wine of energy and class. Don`t miss it!" Chateau d`Yquem

Chateau d`Yquem

Considered by many to be the peak of fine sweet wine, Château d'Yquem manage around over 100 hectares of vineyards in Sauternes planted with a mixture of 80% Semillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes are only picked when the so-called 'noble rot' has fully taken hold and yields are, as a result, meagre - it's said that each vine at d'Yquem produces a single glass of wine.

Fermentation takes place in 100% new oak and the wine is left to mature for up to three years before release. Characterised by an exotic richness in youth, the wine has the ability to age for untold decades. A second wine 'Y de Yquem' is produced in select vintages, a dry counterpart to the Grand Vin.
