Te Mata Coleraine 2018 is a full-bodied Bordeaux blend and the flagship wine of the Te Mata estate in Hawke`s Bay, New Zealand. Coleraine has been described as `New Zealand`s First Growth` and is a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend, typically with a minor element of Merlot, with fruit sourced from a selection of Te Mata`s finest vineyard plots. Each plot is matured separately in new French oak before being blended and barrel-aged for a further period of time before bottling. "Bright, youthful blended red of Cabernet Sauvignon (52%), Merlot (33%) and Cabernet Franc (15%). This is classic Coleraine with cassis, cedar, floral, blueberry, a suggestion of wood-smoke, anise and spicy oak flavours. Terrific depth and an exquisite balance between fruit sweetness and acid/tannin structure. It will be a long-distance runner." Bob Campbell MW, 2022
