Domaine du Tunnel St-Joseph 2017 is a concentrated barrel-aged St-Joseph Syrah from Stéphane Robert, one of the most lauded `emerging` winemakers in the northern Rhône. Robert launched his winery in Cornas in 1996 but in northern Rhône terms is still considered one of the `young guns`. A rich, seamless example of St-Joseph Syrah offering notes of smoky ripe dark berry fruit with, liquorice and black pepper spice, and candied violet aromas. Profound with slowly evolving tannins and a distinct nervous energy, this wine is drinking well now but will reveal itself more fully over the next six to eight years.
