Cote Rotie Chateau D`Ampuis Guigal 2019

E Guigal Côte-Rôtie Château D`Ampuis 2019 is a full-bodied Syrah red wine from the northern Rhône Valley. Château D`Ampuis is produced from seven prime terroirs across the Côte Blonde and the Côte Brune, the vines being cultivated on steep terraces whose soils are mainly composed of decomposed granite. The 2019 contains about 7% Viognier alongside the Syrah. "Smoky, herbal and complex, with a solid foundation of blueberry and raspberry fruit, it`s full-bodied and concentrated yet silky, elegant and long on the finish. It was the start of the last full day of my 2021 Rhône trip when I pulled into the parking lot at Guigal around 9.30 a.m. Reminder. Always dress warmly when tasting at Guigal, because the cellars are a few degrees cooler than average!
