Domaine du Tunnel is a well-regarded winery located in the Northern Rhône, specifically in the town of Saint-Péray. It was established in 1994 by winemaker Stéphane Robert, who is known for his dedication to producing expressive and terroir-driven wines. The 11-hectare property covers three prestigious appellations – Cornas, Saint-Joseph and Saint-Péray – and their wines have become reference points for all three. This particular release is filled with notes of blackberries, herbs, cacao nibs and hints of meat.
The light- to medium-bodied 2021 Saint-Joseph was made with 5% whole-clusters. Sour cherry, red plum and raspberry emerge from the glass, complemented by leafy nuances as well as licorice. Smooth tannins caress the palate. Refreshing and balanced, this delicate Saint-Joseph finishes with moderate length on the bright finish.
