Benjamin et David Duclaux Côte-Rôtie La Germine 2018 is a medium-bodied, Syrah-based red wine from the Côte-Rôtie appellation of the northern Rhône Valley. A blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier, this classic Côte-Rôtie from the Duclaux brothers was produced from 30-year-old vines in the fresher south of the appellation. The fruit was 20% whole bunch-fermented and the wine was matured for 20 months in 20% new demi-muids and barriques. "Like the other Côte Rôties from Duclaux, the 2017 Cote Rôtie La Germine is medium-bodied, emphasizing the elegance and delicacy of the southern end of the appellation. A liniment-like minty, herbal note marks the nose, joined by red raspberries. This is ripe, marked by supple tannins and a creamy texture, without going overboard, with a juicy, silky finish."
