César Marquéz Parajes de Bierzo is a medium-bodied red wine produced from the Mencia grape variety in the Bierzo region of north-west Spain. The nephew of the legendary Raúl Pérez, César Marquéz is one of the most promising young winemakers in the Bierzo region. For his own project, started in 2015, he is exploring the possibilities of a Burgundy-inspired classification system with Mencia-based wines in Bierzo. Parajes is his `regional` wine and includes a small percentage of Alicante Bouschet. Bright, concentrated red and black fruit notes combine with liquorice, black pepper and lavender in this great-value medium-bodied red.
