Though designated as a Denominación de Origen only in 1989, Bierzo emerges as a relatively young wine region. It is blessed with exceptional old vineyards that captured the attention of Álvaro Palacios. Collaborating with his nephew, Ricardo Pérez, they established Descendientes de J. Palacios in 1998, swiftly earning an impressive reputation for crafting aromatic, refined wines using the local Mencía grape. Among their creations, `Las Lamas` exudes aromas of mature dark berries, black cherries, and floral nuances. On the palate, the wine unveils a sumptuous and velvety texture, accompanied by notes of dark fruits, spices, earthy hints, and a touch of minerality.
