Nicolas-Jay Estate, a prominent producer of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in Oregon`s Willamette Valley, is the outcome of a three-decade friendship between music entrepreneur Jay Boberg and Burgundy winemaker Jean-Nicolas Méo of Domaine Méo-Camuzet. The Momtazi Vineyard, situated in the foothills of Oregon’s Coastal Range, is meticulously tended to through biodynamic practices by the Momtazi family, who initiated vine planting in the late 1990s. Nicolas-Jay`s Pinot Noir block, positioned at an elevation of 740 feet near the vineyard`s summit, benefits from the altitude, cool evenings, and persistent winds, fostering slow grape ripening and resulting in a compelling interplay of concentration, restraint, and earth-driven characteristics.
