Luigi Nervi Gattinara 1961 is a mature red wine produced from Spanna (aka Nebbiolo) grapes in the Gattinara sub-region of Alto Piedmont, northern Italy. Founded in 1906, Cantina Nervi is the oldest winery in ??the Gattinara DOCG and is now owned by Roberto Conterno of the Giacomo Conterno winery. This particular release hails from the 1961 vintage, widely regarded as one of the greatest of the 20th century for Piedmont. It was an exceptional year marked by near-perfect weather conditions, which resulted in wines of outstanding quality and longevity.
