Château Beau-Séjour Bécot 2006 is a mature Right Bank Bordeaux from the appellation of St-Émilion. Located just west of St-Émilion itself amid the enviable limestone terroir of the Saint-Martin de Mazerat plateau, Château Beau-Séjour Bécot is a Premier Grand Cru Classé B property run by third-generation owner Juliette Bécot and here husband Julien Barthe, along with Juliette’s cousins Pierre and Caroline Bécot. The 2006 is a blend of 70% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. "The nose is vibrant with dark berry, blackberry and strawberry preserve, well defined and generous with faint smoky notes developing. The palate is medium-bodied, spicy on the entry with moderate weight, fleshy but just attenuating slightly towards the finish. It has an easy-going sensibility that surprised me, though I suspect that with decanting this would gain more substance." Neal Martin, 2016
