Vietti Barolo Castiglione 2000 is a mature-vintage, single-vineyard Barolo red wine from the Piedmont region of northern Italy. Located in the village of Castiglione Falletto, Vietti was founded in the late 1800s by Carlo Vietti. The estate has gradually grown to become one of the most reputable producers Piedmont, boasting vineyard holdings in many of the most highly prized terroirs within the Barolo and Barbaresco appellations. The 2000 Barolo Castiglione was produced principally from grapes from Castiglione Falletto and was matured for about 30 months in large oak botti. "A medium garnet, it features dried fruit and flowers on the nose, a balanced, medium-weight palate, much freshness and force on the mid-palate and the close, and some interesting tar and leather notes for additional complexity." Wine Advocate, 2003
