Fontodi Flaccianello della Pieve 2015 is a full-bodied red wine produced from organically farmed Sangiovese grapes on the Fontodi estate in Panzano, in the Chianti region of Tuscany. Certified organic in the vineyards and combining modern and traditional, low-intervention winemaking techniques in their modern, gravity-fed cellar, Fontodi has become a byword for consistent quality and terroir expression in Chianti Classico. Fontodi Flaccianello della Pieve 2015 was naturally fermented and matured for 24 months in fine Troncais and Allier oak barrels before release. "The aromas are crystal-clear here, ranging from dark cherry essence, dried herbs and dark plums to liquorice, cloves, vanilla and paprika. Full body, very velvety yet firm tannins and a long, grippy finish. The tension created with the interplay between the rich fruit, taut acidity and a sturdy tannin backbone is so enticing."
