Alfredo Prunotto Barbaresco Riserva 1974 is a fully mature red wine produced from Nebbiolo grapes in the Barbaresco appellation of Piedmont, northern Italy. Alfredo Prunotto founded his eponymous winery in 1922, selling the company to Beppe Colla – one of the founding fathers of modern Piedmont wine – in 1956. Colla was responsible for refining the company`s production and moving towards a more terroir-focused, site-specific approach to winemaking. This bottle comes from the 1974 Piedmont vintage – a good vintage after two difficult years in the region. The riserva classification requires wines to be matured for at least four years prior to release.
