Pio Cesare Barbaresco 1996 is a mature-vintage Nebbiolo red wine from the Barbaresco appellation of Piedmont, northern Italy. Pio Cesare was founded in 1881 by Cesare Pio and is one of the oldest wine estates in the region. The company continues to be owned and run by Cesare Pio`s descendants, five generations on. "The 1996 Barbaresco is tannic, with a firm, muscular style. The wine is concentrated, with dense fruit, and plenty of black cherries, leather, smoke, and tobacco nuances." Robert Parker, 1999
