Ziereisen Jaspis Gutedel Unterirdisch 2014

HED31842 75cl 11.5%
Weingut Hanspeter Ziereisen is located in the southern part of Baden, directly on the Rhine river at the border of Alsace and Switzerland. A producer of meticulous attention to detail, they specialise in Pinot Noir, aka Spätburgunder, but also make wines from Chasselas, Pinot Gris (Grauburgunder), Chardonnay and Syrah.

This is an intriguing orange wine made from 100% Chasselas (aka Gutedel) vinified in sub-terranean clay amphorae with skins and stems included. Following an additional year in oak barrels, it was then bottled without filtration or added sulphur. A slightly cloudy appearance is entirely normal and allowing the bottle to stand for a short period (48hrs) before serving is recommended. Decant and serve cool rather than cold.
