Volnay Clos de la Cave des Ducs Benjamin Leroux 2016

HED97101 75cl 13%
Benjamin Leroux Volnay Clos de la Cave des Ducs 2016 is a medium-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Premier Cru climat of Clos de la Cave des Ducs in the Volnay commune of the Côte de Beaune. A former manager of the prestigious Pommard estate Domaine du Comte Armand, Benjamin Leroux is a first-generation winemaker who launched his own label in 2007. Since then, his hand-crafted Pinot Noir and Chardonnay cuvées from top-tier appellations in Burgundy have become highly sought-after across the world. "The 2016 Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Caves des Ducs, which has 50% whole-bunch fruit, has a transparent, red cherry and crushed strawberry bouquet that opens with more confidence than the Les Mitans. The palate has a fine bone structure, quite focused and grainy in the mouth with a keen thread of acidity, quite stern toward the finish but you have to admire the detail here. This has great potential." Neal Martin, 2017
