Torbreck The Struie 2021

HED27182 75cl 15%
Torbreck The Struie 2021 is a full-bodied Shiraz red wine using grapes sourced from the Barossa and Eden valleys of South Australia. Torbreck is an esteemed Australian winery that was founded in 1994 by David Powell. Located in the Barossa Valley, Torbreck is renowned for its premium wines, with a particular emphasis on Shiraz and Rhône-style blends. Sourced from elevated sites throughout the Barossa and Eden valleys, The Struie reflects the cooler side of the region and showcases the subtle nuances that are gained from hillside viticulture. It is a wonderfully aromatic and deeply concentrated wine produced from the harmonious combination of both regions, delivering layers of dark chocolate characters and defining structure. Nuances of plum, black and blueberries, violets and spice character all further enhance the natural elegance and tension from old vines. The Struie will reward for 15-20 years of cellaring.
- This 2021 The Struie, a blend of Barossa and Eden Valley Shiraz, shows a delicious split personality. A rich bed of Barossa dark cherry and mulberry fruits is topped by finer Eden nuances in the form of crushed stones and dried sage. A focused palate follows the same vein, laced with tarry, spicy complexity delivered over a lengthy finish. Quite tightly coiled, this will be very attractive over the next decade and possibly longer.

Torbreck

Founded in 1994 by David Powell, Torbreck has quickly positioned itself as one of the greatest wineries in Australia. This has been partly due to its unwavering commitment to its core vision and not being influenced by trends and fashions. Focusing on Rhone varieties such as Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre planted in 1840, the fruit here is uniquely rich and concentrated. After manually harvesting, the grapes are fermented in either stainless steel or cement vats. After that, the young wine is transferred into French oak barriques for maturation- usually 20-24 months. The result is bold, flavourful and wines that reflect their origins. These wines maintain a style that is impressively consistent over the vintages, favouring richness but with structure and a distinctive core of energy.
