Torbreck
Old-vine Treasures of the Barossa Valley
Founded in 1994 by David Powell, Torbreck has quickly positioned itself as one of the greatest wineries in Australia. This has been partly due to its unwavering commitment to its core vision and not being influenced by trends and fashions. Focusing on Rhone varieties such as Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre planted in 1840, the fruit here is uniquely rich and concentrated. After manually harvesting, the grapes are fermented in either stainless steel or cement vats. After that, the young wine is transferred into French oak barriques for maturation- usually 20-24 months. The result is bold, flavourful and wines that reflect their origins. These wines maintain a style that is impressively consistent over the vintages, favouring richness but with structure and a distinctive core of energy.
