Colorado entrepreneur Ray Twomey Duncan and winemaker Justin Meyer founded Silver Oak in the Napa Valley in 1972, producing just 1,000 cases of their inaugural vintage. The 2016 Alexander Valley red is comprised of 94.6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 0.5% Petit Verdot, 0.5% Cabernet Franc and 0.4% Malbec. It was aged for 24 months in American oak barrels, 50% of which were new. The 2016 vintage was exceptional across California and this should have excellent ageing potential.
