The exceptional flavours of Schloss Vollrads Rieslings are a result of their distinctive terroir. In the Rheingau region, a complex interplay of six distinct geological formations makes up a layered foundation, enriching the vine roots with a diverse array of minerals. The winery produces a range of ten to fifteen unique Riesling wines annually, including estate wines, Kabinett, Edition, Spätlese, and Auslese varieties. This specific Riesling hails from old vines cultivated in Schlossberg, a vineyard that is exclusively owned by Schloss Vollrads. This translates to deep root systems, intense manual labour, limited yields, and meticulous handling of both grapes and wine. However, it also results in high-quality, dry wines with a rich, concentrated body, exceptional structure, and a strong backbone.
