Leone de Castris Salice Salentino Riserva 2019 is a full-bodied red wine produced from a blend of Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera grapes in the Salice Salentino appellation of Puglia, southern Italy. Leone de Castris is one of the most historic wine estates in Salice Salentino, tracing its history back to 1665. The blend for this 2019 is 90% Negroamaro and 10% Malvasia Nera. The wine was aged in oak barrels for about 12 months and another six months in bottle prior to release. Producer note. "To the nose fruity sensations of blackberry and black cherry, notes of basil and sweet spices due to the refinement in oak barrels. In the mouth it is smooth and balanced with a strong but never intrusive tannin. Long-lasting finish."
