The 2019 Richebourg Grand Cru is extraordinarily intense on the nose with pure black fruit, wilted violets and crushed stone scents. Very harmonious, the oak is supremely well assimilated. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, fine-boned tannins that frame the weighty, mineral-rich black fruit. There is density and authority on the finish. It is a 2019 that requires serious aging, but it will be worth the wait. An exemplary Richebourg. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. - Neil Martin
Domaine Jean Grivot is one of the leading wine producers in Burgundy. The estate is currently run by the husband-and-wife team Étienne Grivot and Marielle, who took over from Étienne’s father Jean Grivot in 1987. The domaine has been assembled over several generations to its current size of 15.5 hectares and includes holdings in three grand cru sites. Clos de Vougeot, Echézeaux, and Richebourg, where this cuvée comes from. The 70-year-old vines and gentle extraction result in a beautiful fruit character, brimming with exotic spice and floral notes.
