Founded in 1450, Comtes Georges de Vogue own & make wine from some of the most desirable vineyards in Burgundy with significant holdings in the Grand Crus of Musigny & Bonnes-Mares. Their wines are complex, long-lived & reward long-term ageing & they are considered by many to be one of the finest domaines in the Cote d`Or.
The 2009 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru is one of the most successful wines of François Millet`s reign. This has light bricking on the rim. The bouquet bursts forth with red berry fruit, shoe leather and menthol, crushed flowers and sous-bois. Maybe it would benefit from a little more delineation? The palate is beautifully balanced with fine-boned tannins, an unerring symmetry and a silky-smooth texture. Hints of spice appear towards the tender and long finish. Superb.
