Domaine Jean Grivot
Exceptional Pinot Noir from Vosne-Romanée
With a history dating back to the French Revolution, Jean Grivot is one of the great names of Vosne-Romanée winemaking. Jean Grivot passed the domaine on to his son, Etienne, in 1987. Winemaking is now overseen by Mathilde, daughter of Étienne and his wife, Marielle. Mathilde’s delicate touch has elevated Domaine Jean Grivot to the top echelon of the Vosne-Romanée appellation.
For Mathidle, as for her farther, meticulous work is undertaken in the vineyard to produce fruit of impeccable quality. In the cellar, grape are completely destemmed following a pre-ferment cold maceration for around one week. The wines are matured in oak barrels for 15-20 months, with up to 40% new for the domaine's best wines, most notably the Grand Crus Richebourg, Clos de Vougeot and Échezeaux. Regardless of the appellation, under Mathidle Grivot’s expert direction, Domaine Jean Grivot has become a byword for intense, yet perfumed Pinot Noirs with bright red fruit at their core.
