Rafael Palacios is a highly regarded winemaker, known for his white wines from the Valdeorras region of Galicia, in northwest Spain. He is the brother of Álvaro Palacios, another renowned winemaker in Spain. Rafael started his eponymous winery in 2004, after acquiring several small, old vine plots in the region, with the goal of producing exceptional white wines from the native Godello. ‘As Sortes’ is one of his flagship wines, made entirely from Godello. The grapes are sourced from old vines (some over 50 years old) at high altitudes, showcasing the potential of the unique terroir of the region. The wine is marked by notes of white flowers, citrus and stone fruits, with hints of herbs and minerality.
