Filipa Pato Nossa Missão 2017 is a medium-bodied, single-vineyard red wine produced from Baga grapes in the Bairrada region of Portugal. Following in the footsteps of her well-known winemaker father, Luis, Filipa Pato has garnered a reputation for producing a superb range of terroir-driven wines in Ois do Bairro, in the heart of Bairrada. Nossa Missão is produced from a 130+-year-old Baga vineyard planted on clay-limestone soils. The 2017 was matured in used Austrian oak foudres for 18 months. "Stunning again, this layered Baga adds some depth to the Nossa Calcario this issue, but that`s a very relative comment. It remains re ned, beautifully balanced and surprisingly sexy for Baga. The mid-palate nesse is impressive. The wood shows a bit just now, but that will get better. While the tannins are ripe and you can in theory drink this understated Baga now, holding it for a few years to allow it to develop more complexity and pull in the wood is a great idea."
