Based in the Douro, Alves de Sousa is a family-owned estate producing both table and fortified wines. Winemaking is currently overseen by the talented Tiago Alves de Sousa, who won several industry awards in the past five years. ‘Abandonado’ is a field blend made from 80-year-old vines, including Tinta Amarela, Touriga Franca, Sousão and Touriga Nacional. The wine offers remarkable complexity and freshness, with quite unique balsamic and tar flavours, liquorice and dark berries.
