Messorio le Macchiole 2004 is a full-bodied Merlot red wine from the Bolgheri sub-region of Tuscany, central Italy. Dating back to the beginning of the 1980s, and founded by Eugenio Campolmi and Cinzia Merli, `Le Macchiole` is one of the historic wineries in Bolgheri, and over the years, it has become a reference point for quality Tuscan wine. First produced in 1994, the name `Messorio` refers to the wheat harvest and is made from 100% Merlot, with 18 months spent maturing in oak barriques. "Beautiful, subtle aromas of berries, cappuccino and black olive are amazing. Full-bodied, with ultrarefined tannins and a long, long finish. Goes on for minutes. Leaves me speechless.
