Clos du Mesnil is a rare blanc de blancs produced only in exceptional years from a single, tiny 1.84ha plot in the heart of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. 1996 is widely considered the greatest ever release of this wine. It is characterised by profound fruit delineation, chiselled palate precision and endless layers of depth and complexity. Possibly as good as it gets?
