Glenmorangie Finealta is a revival of a recipe from 1903. This whisky takes a unique turn for Glenmorangie by incorporating a subtle hint of peatiness, owing to its maturation in American white oak and Spanish Oloroso sherry casks. It is a nostalgic nod to the era when Glenmorangie dried its barley in a peat-fired kiln. Its Gaelic name `Finealta’ translates to `Elegance’.

Glenmorangie

Alcohol production has been recorded on the Morangie Farm, from which the distillery takes its name since the early 18th century. A brewery was known to exist on the site in the 1730 and Glenmorangie as we known it today was established in 1843, when William Matheson acquired the farm and installed a pair of second hand gin stills.

Today, Glenmorangie boast the tallest stills in Scotland, which contribute to the characteristic full, fruity character of the malt. The core range includes Glenmorangie Original, 18 and 25 year olds as well as a number of wood finished non-age-statement bottlings.

Long time distillery manager Dr Bill Lumsden, who also consults with Ardbeg, is well regarded in the industry, pioneering wood management techniques that have been widely adopted across Scotland.
