As the fourth instalment in Glenmorangie`s Private Edition series, the Ealanta is a 19-year-old whisky that underwent exclusive maturation in heavily charred new American oak barrels. This process imparted matured oak influences. The term `Ealanta,` meaning `skilled and ingenious` in Gaelic, aptly describes the expertise of its creators. The whisky exhibits a rich interplay of vanilla and oaky spices, complemented by a nutty character and hints of citrus peels, ensuring a harmonious profile that avoids being overwhelmed by the wood.

Glenmorangie

Alcohol production has been recorded on the Morangie Farm, from which the distillery takes its name since the early 18th century. A brewery was known to exist on the site in the 1730 and Glenmorangie as we known it today was established in 1843, when William Matheson acquired the farm and installed a pair of second hand gin stills.

Today, Glenmorangie boast the tallest stills in Scotland, which contribute to the characteristic full, fruity character of the malt. The core range includes Glenmorangie Original, 18 and 25 year olds as well as a number of wood finished non-age-statement bottlings.

Long time distillery manager Dr Bill Lumsden, who also consults with Ardbeg, is well regarded in the industry, pioneering wood management techniques that have been widely adopted across Scotland.
