Founded at the start of the 20th century, Armand Rousseau is a leading Burgundy producer, currently managed by Eric Rousseau with the assistance of his daughter Cyriell. The Domaine is based in Gevrey-Chambertin and consists of approximately 15 hectares, over half of which is situated in Grand Cru sites. This release is from the Premier Cru Clos Saint-Jacques, where Rousseau owns a 2.2-hectare plot. The 1999 vintage in Burgundy is widely considered to be an outstanding year. The growing season was favourable, with a warm summer and well-timed rain, allowing the grapes to achieve optimal ripeness. The wines produced in 1999 are known for their rich fruit, exceptional balance, and impressive aging potential, making it one of the most celebrated vintages in recent Burgundy history.
