Franchetti is a red wine produced on the slopes of Mount Etna by Tenuta di Passopisciaro. It is a blend of Petit Verdot and Cesanese d`Affile, two grapes that are not typically grown in Sicily. The wine is known for its complex flavours, with notes of red fruit, black fruit, spices, and hints of minerality. It is named after Andrea Franchetti, the owner of Tenuta di Passopisciaro. Franchetti is a Tuscan winemaker who has been credited with reviving the winemaking tradition on Mount Etna. He planted the first Petit Verdot vines on Mount Etna in 1998, and the Franchetti wine was first produced in 2001.
