Château Figeac 2010 is a full-bodied, Merlot-dominant red wine from Saint-Émilion on the Right Bank of Bordeaux. It represents a classic style of Saint-Émilion with ripe yet elegant fruit, mouth-filling texture and tannic power. Château Figeac is one of the finest producers in Saint-Émilion and just one of 14 properties classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé (B), putting it firmly in the highest echelons of the region`s estates. "Fennel notes on the first nose, this continues to have an austere architecture at 12 years old, and should be set aside for a few more years. You can feel the juice dripping off the muscular frame however, and this is just waiting to pounce. So much sinew and concentration to cassis, blueberry and bilberry fruits. As it opens, an earthier, liquorice root and smoked turmeric character comes out, with black truffle and soy. Harvest September 27 to October 18, yield 33hl/h 100% new oak for ageing." The 2010 Figeac has a deep hue. The nose is quite introverted at first, with dark berry fruit, incense, touches of fig and mulberry. The palate is beautifully balanced with a fine bead of acidity, gorgeous pure fruit, mulberry and dark plum, gentle considering the vintage. This 2010 has softened in the last couple of years, gaining depth towards the finish. Very persistent - this is just beginning to show what it is capable of. Tasted at the vertical in Berlin.

Château Figeac is one of the finest producers in Saint-Émilion and is just one of fourteen properties classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé (B) in 2012, putting it firmly in the highest echelons of the region.

Owned by the Manoncourt family since 1892, the history of this superb estate can be traced back to the Roman era and today spans 40ha. The majority of the grapes produced go into producing the celebrated first wine of the estate, Château Figeac, a classic style of Saint-Émilion with wonderful texture and tannic power. A small amount of the second wine, Le Petit Figeac is also produced.
