Ferrari-Carano was founded in 1981 by second generation Italian-Americans Don and Rhonda Carano. Their very first wines were released in 1987, and they were a 1986 Fumé Blanc and a 1985 Alexander Valley Chardonnay. This release is their Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from 1990, an exceptionally good vintage for California. Owned by Bill and Carol Foley since 2019, Ferrari-Carano still produces the Fumé Blanc and Chardonnay as well as over 20 other white and red wines.
