Raúl Pérez is an influential winemaker who has made waves in the Spanish wine industry. He is known for his work in Bierzo and Rías Baixas, and he is considered one of the pioneers of the "new wave" of Spanish winemaking. One of Pérez`s most notable wines is ‘El Pecado’, which is made from centenarian grapes from the very small Capeliños vineyard in Ribeira Sacra. The vineyard is located on a slope at 350 to 400 meters above sea level and is planted with a Mencía field blend, including small percentages of Casino, Alicante Bouschet, Bastardo, and Brancellao.
